FAA Fire Testing performed at Govmark
- Flammability and Flame Propagation Test: (Characteristics of Thermal/Acoustic Insulation Materials)
- This test method evaluates the flammability and flame propagation characteristics of thermal/acoustic insulation when exposed to both a radiant heat source and a flame to show compliance to the requirements of FAR 25 Appendix F Part VI, Boeing BSS 7365 & Airbus AITM 2.0053.
- Rate of Heat Release Test / OSU: (for Cabin Materials)
- This test is intended for use in determining heat release rates to show compliance with the requirements of FAR 25 Appendix F Part IV, Boeing BSS 7322 & Airbus AITM 2.0006.
- Smoke Chamber Test: (for Cabin Materials)
- This test method is used to determine the smoke generating characteristics of airplane passenger cabin interior materials to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of FAR 25.853.
- Oil Burner Test: (for Cargo Liners)
- This test method evaluates the flame penetration resistance capabilities of aircraft cargo compartment lining materials utilizing a high-intensity open flame to show compliance to the requirements of FAR 25.855.
- Oil Burner Test: (for Seat Cushions)
- This test method evaluates the burn resistance and weight loss characteristics of aircraft seat cushions when exposed to a high-intensity open flame to show compliance to the requirements of FAR 25.853.
- Powerplant Fire Penetration Test:
- This test method is intended to determine the capability of components and constructions to control the passage of fire or its effects in powerplant (engine) compartments and, thereby, to prevent additional hazard to the aircraft. This test is used to show compliance with FARs 25.867, 25.865, 25.1191, and 25.1193.
- Horizontal Bunsen Burner Test: (for Cabin, Cargo Compartment, and Miscellaneous Materials)
- This test method is intended for use in determining the resistance of materials to flame when tested according to the 15-second horizontal Bunsen burner tests specified in FAR 25.853.
- Vertical Bunsen Burner Test: (For Cabin and Cargo Compartment Materials)
- This test method is intended for use in determining the resistance of materials to flame when tested according to the 60-second and 12-second Vertical Bunsen Burner Tests specified in Federal Aviation Regulation FAR 25.853 and FAR 25.855.
- 45° Bunsen Burner Test: (for Cargo Compartment Liners and Waste Stowage Compartment Materials)
- This test method is intended for use in determining the resistance of materials to flame penetration and to flame and glow propagation when tested according to the 30-second, 45° Bunsen burner test specified in FAR 25.
- 60° Bunsen Burner Test: (for Electric Wire)
- This test method is intended for use in determining the resistance of electric wire insulation to flame when tested according to the 30-second, 60° Bunsen burner test specified in FAR 25.869.
